Today I want to tell you a little more about the Maths games we have on our shelves. We have had lots of fun over the years with some of these games. I’m sure it wouldn’t take much convincing even now to get them to play some of the easier games as they’ve had so much fun.
If you want to see some of the other games we like for English and Science, check out my other post Games = Fun = Learning!
Pop to the Shops

Pop to the Shops has provided us with hours of fun and at the same time, the boys learnt how to add and subtract money! Each player owns a shop and selects a tile to determine which shop they need to go to next. Roll the dice and make your way across the board to the shop, gaining 20c as you pass through the middle of the board. It’s also a great way to practise polite greetings and asking for products. We usually play till everyone has a full shopping basket and they all get together to have a lovely picnic afterwards 🙂
Just make sure you buy the International edition if you want to use Cents!
Monopoly Junior

Have a favourite theme? There is probably a Monopoly board game just for you! I have no idea how many different versions of Monopoly exist, but we have quite a few Star Wars ones 🙂
Monopoly Junior also comes in multiple themes with Incredibles 2, Baby Animals, and Cars just to name a few! We have the original Monopoly Junior and it has been a favourite since the day we bought it.
It’s simplified rules along with it’s amusement park theme make it fun and engaging for everyone, even for Mum’s that hate monopoly! It only has single Monopoly dollars and the most expensive property is 5 Monopoly dollars. It also incorporates simple addition when someone owns the coloured property set and you have to pay twice as much rent as usual.
Multiplication Bingo: Beat the Crocodile

Who ever loved learning their times tables by rote memorisation? Multiplication Bingo: Beat the Crocodile makes practice times fun and engaging. Fill up your bingo mat before the crocodile is completely covered to win!
When we were starting out with multiplication we would make the equations using bundles of paddle pop sticks. Then we would count the total number of paddle pop sticks to find our answer. That helped make the multiplication easier to see.
Magic Maths

Magic Maths is a fun game from Orchard Toys for the little wizards in your life. You select your wizard and are given a number of spell ingredient cards. Each player picks up a tile from the middle which has an addition, subtraction, or multiplication question on it. They then rub the magic star on the back whilst saying their magic words to reveal the answer. If it matches one of their spell ingredient cards they turn it over to find an ingredient for their spell.
